I met Beau Garrett several years ago now. Our story still to this day stands as a reminder that some things are meant to be and sometimes being at the right place at the right time can be priceless. I was out on a first date, it was day time and he took me for sushi. Several minutes into the date, the most gorgeous young woman walked in with her date. I was in awe of her and they happened to be seated next to us. It so happened that my date knew Beau’s date and the rest is history. We began talking, exchanged numbers, and grew to be the kind of friends you only dream of. We now reminisce and laugh about the dates when we tell our story. Beau taught me to be spontaneous. We traveled all over Thailand together, vacationed in Hawaii, enjoyed many trips to New York, Mexico oh Mexico, years of Coachella’s, walks, sleep overs, and have been through at least a handful of broken hearts together. This is a friendship I constantly feel lucky to have.
Beau is endlessly spontaneous… Adventurous… and fearless to say the least. It was interesting to go to Beau’s home and do an ‘Up Closet & Personal’ with her as clothes aren’t really her thing and never have been. It is shocking to me as I’ve never met anyone who looks so unbelievable in them. For years she has been coming over and letting me dress her for things which gives me so much joy. The time we’ve spent together getting ready to go out are some of my most special memories. Clothes aside, Beau knows how to create a space like no one else. She has turned her Silverlake home she bought a few years ago into a romantic treehouse with secret details she has carefully placed all over: a traced finger in cement that reads, “Beau & Kona 2008,” the year she bought her home and of course the love of her life, Kona. Her adopted angel, a mix of sorts. The most loyal, loving, special pup in the world.
Beau is an advocate for pet adoption. An animal lover through and through. She loves to travel and create adventures. She is an unbelievable cook and makes the most insanely delicious meals for friends. She can run for miles and no one can keep up with her. No one. She is an actress, but doesn’t take herself to seriously. She is grateful for what she has. She is refreshing, endearing, and a true free spirit.
1. One of your favorite adventures?
There are so many. I am lucky and have had the chance to travel a great deal and see much of the world. One of the most memorable adventures was in Hawaii when I was 20. I had just ended a four year relationship and I decided to go to Kauai on my own. I hitch hiked all over the island and ended up on a 10 mile hike along the coast to a beautiful set of pools and waterfalls. I only had a snicker bar and sunscreen on me. I ended up meeting a guy and his kid and rode with them back home. We had sushi and watched the sunset and I felt like and adult for the first time in my life. It was liberating and scary and eye opening for a kid adventuring for the first time on her own.
2. Go to outfit?
Black jeans, Lanvin flats, white soft t-shirt and my few pieces of jewelry.
3. Lingerie or naked?
Naked when I sleep and frolic in Joshua Tree. Lingerie when I travel.
4. Any beauty products you swear by?
Skin cream by Embryolisse, B Kamins eye cream, Ahava purifying mud mask, Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer which has SPF, and some kind of face spritz to rehydrate.
5. Music?
KCRW live stream online all the time.
6. This weeks’s favorite recipe?
Toasted walnut fig bread from Village Bakery in Atwater with avocado, cypress grove cheese and one fried egg. You can do an open faced sandwich or two pieces.
7. Favorite place(s) to spend money?
Vineland Nursery for plants, Blue Collar in echo park for dog food, Cookbook in Echo park for produce, Silverlake Cheese for… Cheese, Pizzeria Mozza for the
splurge dinners, Platform in Highland Park for home, Silverlake Wine
for vino and vrbo.com for potential cabins in Big Sur to rent.
8. What character traits do you look for in a man?
Shit… Kindness, thoughtfulness, humor, adventure, loyalty, cooking capabilities, acceptance, adaptability, creativity. A giver through and through… Hard to find.
9. Most sentimental gift from someone special?
All of the cards, pictures, and books my friends have made for me over the years. I feel very understood by the people in my life.
10. If you could pick one word that describes something you want to put more energy into, which would you pick?
Gratitude. I have spent too much of my life wanting something more or something
different and I am really focusing now on what I have and being grateful for all of it. My health, my family, my friends, my home, my work..or lack there of:) … Myself really. I am learning to be grateful for who I am.
The first trailer for “Freelancers”, a new film co-starring Beau Garrett, has recently been released! The film starts Robert DeNiro, 50 Cent and Forest Whitaker; the film is about the son of a slain NYPD officer who joins the force, where he falls in with his father’s former partner (Robert De Niro) and a team of rogue cops.
It will be released on DVD and Blu-ray sometime this year, we’ll post the official release date once its announced!
Beau Garrett is starring in a new film called “Lust for Love”! The Hollywood Reporter has more information about the film, which is still in post production.
The film features Fran Kranz — seen most recently in Cabin in the Woods and on Broadway in Death of a Salesman — as an unlucky in love guy who finally wins over the love of his life, played by Beau Garrett. Of course, because he’s been pining over her for so long, he inevitably gets so awkward that the dream relationship quickly crashes.
Unbowed, he seeks out help from an unlikely source: his now-ex’s best friend, played by another Dollhouse alum Dichen Lachman.
The film also features Dollhouse alums Miracle Laurie, Enver Gjokaj and Maurissa Tancharoen Whedon, who is also the wife of Jed Whedon, her co-writer on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Felicia Day, who featured in that internet sensation, has a small part in Lust for Love, as well.
The movie is directed by Anton King, and produced by AGGK Films. Still in post-production, no festival dates have been set.
